Dryden second graders learned about how digital citizenship this week. They brainstormed ways they can be good digital citizens and they used the Chatter Kids app to crate funny videos to share their ideas.
Our intermediate students learned about the Dryden Dolphin Book Award Books this week. These 20 books were chosen from the Bluestem and Rebecca Caudill Award lists and contain a variety of genres. Students are encouraged to read books from this list throughout the school year. They had the chance to read summaries and watch book trailers of the books. Our first graders are researching maps this week. After watching a video on Brain Pop Jr, these researchers logged in to the online database Pebble Go. They used the data base to learn about map keys and symbols. The first graders took notes on these topics and will use the information to help them create their own maps soon!
We are having so much fun learning about and reviewing the sections in the library and important spots in our LMC. We used a QR Code reader to go on a Poke Hunt. We caught lots of Pokemon characters, and learned a lot about accessing the books we love too. Reading Go! Gotta Read Em All!
The LMC Cafe was open for business the first week of school! Our hungry students were ready to "taste" all of the new books that were added to our collection over the summer. Each student created a reading menu that serves as a reading wish list for the fall. Whether you prefer roasted realistic fiction, grilled graphic novels, fried fantasy, or iced informational texts, the Dryden LMC has the book for you!
